Calvin Vance Harris Jr., a retired Brookshire and FWISD educator, transitioned from work to reward on Thursday, March 14, 2013. Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Carter Metropolitan CME Church located at 4601 Wichita St., where Calvin worshiped, served on the trustee board, the choir, the steward board and was a faithful attendant in the Breakfast Club Sunday School class. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice . Survivors: He leaves to cherish his memory: his precious wife of 49 years, Arie Curtis Harris; daughter, Tresha Jackson (John) of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Curtis Harris of Houston and Burl Harris (Jacqueline) of Fort Worth; sister, Jessie Bradford of Austin; grandchildren, Calvin Harris, Lauren Harris, John Jackson III, B. Carter Harris II, Cameron Harris, Sydney Jackson, Solomon Jackson and Sebastian Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and students.
