Girtha Cofer Tubbs Jones

Girtha Cofer Tubbs Jones, a retired parent-teacher liaison for the Fort Worth Independent School District, moved from earth to glory Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at a local hospital. Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Church at Philadelphia, 4716 Wichita St., Pastor Ontario Jones officiating. Interment: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. You may visit Sister Jones as she lies in repose noon to 5 p.m. Friday in the Kelly Suite of Serenity Funerals & Cremations and the family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. at the church. She was a former member of Greater Antioch Baptist Church for over 50 years and served in numerous capacities there. Survivors: Children, Prescilla Greer (Thomas), Gladys Tubbs, Rose Willis (Reggie), Martha Musgrove (Minister Ricky), Minister Vernon Tubbs Jr. (Pam) and Peggy Duffie (Terry); sister, Prescilla Stevenson; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
