Joyce Ruth Cook was born January 17, 1939, to the parentage of the late Sterling and

Minnie Lee Menkins in Freestone County, Texas. She attended Kilpatrick High School

and started working in restaurants as a cook shortly afterwards. Joyce was known in

her community as Mrs. Cook the Candy Lady. She was a lifetime resident of the

Northside of Fort Worth living on Loving Ave. You could always find her sitting

underneath the pecan tree with her Aunt Sug or waving at you from the front porch.

Joyce loved to dress and wouldn’t go without her eyelashes and rouge. She enjoyed

her family and going to all their parties, the dance floor was her friend.

Joyce is proceeded in death by her father and mother Sterling and Minnie Menkins, her

brother LV Menkins, sister Doris Stewart, her sons Lloyd and Tony Cook.

She leaves to cherish her daughters Renda Sherman (Michael), Sythia Diduch, sister

Daisy Johnson, bothers Dean (Diane), Nathaniel (Barbara) and Sterling Menkins along

with a host of grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
