Obituary

On October 10, 1946 in the city of Paris, Texas a baby girl was born to the parentage of Roosevelt Benson, Sr, and Willie Mae Gunn Benson.  They named their daughter, Mounique Mae.  After a few years the family relocated to Fort Worth, Texas where she attended the Fort Worth Independent School District.  She was a graduate of the infamous I. M. Terrell High School Class of 1965.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized during her early years.   Later in her life she united with the Greenway Church and maintained her membership until her demise.

Mounique was employed with Justin Boot Company, Star Uniforms and Photo Etch. She was known for her funny sense of humor, talking with people she got to know and babysitting for family and friends.  She loved to smell good and would often ask others ‘what kind of perfume are you wearing?” “that smells good!” Mounique was known by the younger generation as “Hey Nana”.

In her pastime, she loved watching soap operas, funny movies and game shows. Young and the Restless, Little House on the Prairie, Murder She Wrote, The Price is Right were some of her favorites.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, “the Lord needed some new flowers in his garden and came to the room of Mounique Mae Benson and moved her from this earthly garden to His heavenly garden”.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Willie Mae Benson; son, Rodrick Wayne Benson and her brother, Lloyd “Lala” Benson.

Those awaiting “The Great Reunion” ; her children, Shannetta Dyles and Brodney Benson; grandson, Derrick Herron; sister, Helen Benson; brothers, Jimmie Benson and Roosevelt Benson, Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends.
