Obituary

Rosa Lee Jones fell asleep in the arms of God Saturday, April 29, 2017. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at Believer's Tabernacle. Visitation: Noon to 7 p.m. Friday at Serenity. Rosa Lee Jones (Aunt Rosa Lee), born April 5, 1921, the third of three sisters born to Jerry and Angie Malone in Upshur County-Gilmer, Texas, was a revered member of the Pleasant Hill community in Longview, Texas. Rosa Lee was a successful farmer and cattle raiser until retirement. In 1942 she found her church home at the Historical Longview Sherman Chapel Baptist Church. She attended school in the Gilmer Independent School District. Oh how Rosa Lee loved to fish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Jones; sisters, Louie Lee Smith and Cora Lee Hunter; nephew, Lerogers Balchum; and cousin, Lois Brown. Survivors: Sister, Bobbie Fort; nephew, Rochester Hunter Jr.(Janice); cousin, Sandra Daniels; great nieces, Deidre Washington(Calvin) and Chelsea Baldwin(Gabriel); great-nephew, Eric Hunter(Tiffany); great-great-nieces, Deve' Green and Darin Baldwin; great-great-nephews, Robert Green II, Alex Hunter, Gavin Baldwin, Seth Washington and Micah Washington.
