Daryl R. Davis, I.

Chairman of the Board/ Funeral Director in Charge

Born in Fort Worth in 1958 to Charlie and Odessa Norwood Davis, he was raised
with guidance and care by Rev. Charles and Florence Kelly, who became like second parents and greatly supported him throughout his life. A scholar of Fort Worth Independent School District, attending Paul Laurence Dunbar Elementary, Middle, and High School, he graduated with the Class of 1976 and was a member of the Marching Band. After graduating Daryl began to pursue his dream of becoming a “Funeral Director” only for that to be delayed due to his skewed life perspectives. He did, however, obtain a degree in Applied Science with instructions in Computer Science from Trinity Valley Community College. Twenty-three years later, in 2000, Mr. Davis became a licensed Funeral Director after completing his courses at The Dallas Institute of Funeral Services with perfect attendance and under the encouragement of Dr. Gregory W. Spencer.
Daryl’s determination to serve families in the funeral profession spans 55 years. At only 10 years old he would embark on a journey that paved the way for him in the funeral profession under the tutelage of Mr. Johnny L. Stanley, Sr. That journey would continue as Mr. Davis worked alongside, Reverend Gregory W. Spencer for nearly 30 years, serving numerous families in various capacities, such as: Funeral Service Attendant, Personal Administrator, Payroll Manager, Operations Manager,
Funeral Director, and finally Funeral Director in Charge. Mr. Davis credits his
expertise in funeral services to the mentorship of the late Mr. Johnny Stanley, Sr. and Dr. Gregory Spencer.
Daryl’s life voyage would continue in the funeral profession as he became Funeral Director & General Manager of Serenity Funerals and Cremations upon its inception, working alongside Darelle & Robin Broussard until October 2013.
Daryl pursued other funeral director roles before returning to Serenity in
September 2022. He became owner of Serenity Funeral and Cremations in January2025 and is now transitioning and rebranding it as House of Serenity Funeral & Cremations, LLC, inspired by the serenity prayer.
